Lemnos Introduces Cubist And HALO Clocks For Upcoming NYNOW

Japan’s design clock company Lemnos made available today two design clocks Cubist Cuckoo and HALO Cast Bronze Clock for the upcoming NYNOW 2019 Summer Market in New York City in August.

Inspired by postmodern architecture motifs, Cubist cuckoo clock consists of two stacked volumes made from solid Japanese ash wood. The larger cube contains the clock body and a smaller cube houses the cuckoo bird, which can be rotated to face different directions. This results in a surprising clock design that is perfectly suited for the desk or bookshelf.

As with every Lemnos Cuckoo clock, Cubist also features a 2-step light sensor cuckoo movement, so that the bird will not chirp when it is dark.  Cubist was designed by Singapore based Gabriel Tan as Lemnos continues its close collaboration ties with the design world.  Cubist features two wood finishes Natural (NT) and Brown (BW) and is available with a US retail price of $400.

HALO refers to the atmospheric phenomenon in which a ring of light appears around the sun or moon when it is obscured by clouds.  Lemnos has now expressed this phenomenon in time-telling using bronze.

HALO is a wall clock made in collaboration with Lemnos’ specialized Japanese artisan foundry house in Takaoka, Toyama.  Lemnos remains the world’s leading clock manufacturer that utilizes traditional and arduous techniques to create breath-taking master time pieces.

In the making of each HALO clock, solid blocks of bronze are first heated to a temperature of approximately 2250 degrees Fahrenheit so that liquid bronze is created. The liquid bronze is stirred and prepared by Japanese foundry craftsmen wearing protective face shields, clothing, gloves, and boots.  Each HALO clock is then born from breaking the sand cast from which the molten bronze was poured into, and then polished and assembled to precision by hand by Lemnos craftsmen.

HALO is available in Bronze (BZ) and Black (BK) with a US retail price of $450.  HALO is available for order now, and will be showcased at the upcoming NYNOW in New York City.
